The LOUJAN Story
The LOUJAN Story | A Legacy Worn
At LOUJAN, we do more than create luxurious abayas. We tell stories of passion and elegance — stories passed down through generations. Behind every stitch and every silhouette in our collections lies a story of love and a discerning eye that accepts nothing less than perfection.
The Beginning — The Hands That Taught Themselves Beauty
My mother, Lulwa — may she rest in peace — was only fourteen when she owned her first sewing machine. She was never formally taught the craft; instead, she taught herself, driven by a passionate spirit that refused to settle for the ordinary.
Whenever someone traveled to Lebanon, she would ask them to bring her a piece of fabric or a dress. She would wait eagerly for their return, and when the piece finally arrived, she would take it apart — thread by thread.
She studied how it was constructed, how the fabric flowed gracefully over the body, and how each seam was concealed so flawlessly that it seemed almost invisible. Then, using her manual sewing machine, she would recreate the piece from the ground up.
“She accepted nothing less than complete beauty. No inexpensive fabrics, no overlooked details, and no silhouette that failed the woman wearing it. That is why she became the first choice for brides across the region — because every piece was created for one particular woman, designed to be as unique as she was.”

Dujan — The Eye That Inspired Elegance
On the other side was my father, Dujan — may God preserve him — who watched this passionate creativity unfold.
He was so influenced by her elegance that refinement became part of his own everyday language and identity. Whenever he saw her at her most beautiful and radiant, he would express all his admiration with a single heartfelt word:
“Haila”
Beautiful, elegant, and worthy of being seen.
The Blend — An Abaya That Speaks When Its Wearer Is Silent
From this extraordinary union — between hands that created beauty and eyes that knew how to appreciate it — came a daughter who inherited the finest details from both.
- From her mother: she inherited the discerning eye that notices every seam, every silhouette, and the perfect way fabric should fall across the shoulder.
- From her father: she inherited an understanding of refined beauty — elegance that never needs to shout or exaggerate in order to be noticed.
For many years, the designer created abayas solely for herself because she could not find pieces in the market that met her exacting standards.
She was never searching for extravagance or noise. She was searching for quiet sophistication — a luxurious piece whose elegance speaks even when the woman wearing it remains silent.
Today, the time has come for that beauty to move beyond a private wardrobe and be shared with every woman who seeks distinction.
The Story Behind the Name: LOUJAN
To us, the name is more than a collection of letters. It is a tribute born from gratitude.
- LOU: inspired by Lulwa — the mother who taught our hands how to create beauty and pursue uncompromising quality.
- JAN: inspired by Dujan — the father who taught our eyes how to recognize, appreciate, and experience beauty.
Every LOUJAN piece we create today is viewed through Lulwa’s eye for the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality, and through Dujan’s eye for elegance, allure, and poetic beauty.
LOUJAN is more than an abaya. It is a legacy worn.
